Anyone up for a ramble on the historic 1880s flume bed? Not the entire 11-mile length, but perhaps the 3.5-mile Loop B or shorter Loop A. The history of this New York-funded scheme to sell miners sluice water, the mismanagement and corruption of the on-site manager, the failed interdiction of Ambrose Bierce, etc. I'm no historian, but enjoy this accessible trail greatly.
Any day or time is fine. It's particularly nice with snow. Sturdy shoes recommended.
Also Boulder Hill!
Also, Harney Peak, Lost Cabin Trail, others. History through the lost mining roads, abandoned settlements, broken dreams (or found fortunes) of the miners and settlers.
